The ICSN Story

The Igbo Cultural and Support Network aka ICSN is a non-profit organisation that was founded in 1998 by a young lady named Umunne Olie and a small group of committed individuals.

They identified a gap in the market for young British-Igbos living in the UK to come together to identify, learn, promote and empower themselves through their Igbo culture and heritage whilst positively impacting the Igbo community

ICSN today…

ICSN provides the opportunity for young Igbo descendants to learn about their Igbo culture, build professional and social relationships and to support one another in every aspect of life.

Today with over 1,500 members, and still growing, ICSN today is the UK’s largest networking organisation for young professionals of Nigerian Igbo descent.

ICSN has grown from a small social network to a large organisation reaching thousands of people nationally and beyond. We are now proud to be the UK’s largest networking organisation for young adults of Igbo descent.

At ICSN we are passionate about our rich cultural heritage and are committed to enhancing the cultural awareness amongst Ndi-Igbo (Igbo descendants) and friends of Igboland (the indigenous homeland of the Igbo people).

Our vision & values

Our vision is to build a strong network for Igbo professionals in the UK.

This is underpinned by our motto – “Igwe bu ike, udo na oganiru” meaning “unity is strength, peace and progression”.

In addition, we also provide regular courses to promote our beautiful Igbo language, cuisines and traditional dances and engage in various outreach opportunities to give back to our Igbo community.

Our aims & objectives

ICSN’s core aims and objectives are:

Cultural: To increase and enhance the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Igbo culture.

Social: To serve as a channel by which young Igbo people can meet one another, build friendships, socialise and identify affiliations.

Support: To build and maintain a strong community where we rejoice with one another during times of happiness and support and strengthen one another through difficult times and challenges that come to us during our lives.

Network: To provide a forum where people can build networks that will promote and enhance their business.

We are a membership-based organisation serving as hubs for people passionate about Igbo culture and wanting to be a part of the Igbo community here in the UK.

We organise and host various in-person and virtual events all aimed at providing our members with the opportunity to really connect, network and support one another.
